Invention Of Lasagna Rolls
- Origin – It was particularly during the Middle Ages when the very first recipe of Lasagna originated in Italy. But it goes without saying that there are a bunch of debates regarding the name “lasagna”. A theory says that in ancient Rome, there was once a popular dish called lasana or lasanum! People do believe that the baked Italian pasta dish is somehow connected to this recipe of lasana. But, we also cannot ignore the other theory, which says that the roots of Lasagna might lie in Greece.
- Inspiration – Speaking specifically of lasagna rolls, we can say for sure that it is a variation of the original Italian delicacy, lasagna. The main difference between the two is that to make a proper lasagna, pasta sheets are first spread on the bottom of the baking dish and then a layer of meat, tomato sauce and cheese is placed on top of it! But here in lasagna rolls, we first put some filling inside of the pasta sheets, then we roll it up and place them on the baking dish, followed by a layer of tomato sauce and cheese.
- Popularity – It is indeed true that the popularity of lasagna has now spread all over the world. Not only Italians, but people from other countries and continents also enjoy this dish a lot. Nowadays, lasagna rolls have also become quite popular out there. People in and around Western countries love to indulge in this wholesome pasta dish.
