Step 1
To begin this recipe of Leche Flan Filipino, firstly, let’s prepare our clear caramel sauce. In a pan, add a cup of granulated sugar and 4 to 5 tablespoons of water. Keep the flame low, mix it well and bring this to a boil.
Step 2
Once you see a bright amber color, you can turn off the heat and straightaway pour your clear caramel sauce on Leche Flan molders, also known as Llanera. Remember, we want a thin caramel sauce here, thus, do not cook it for a long time.
Step 3
Next, move on to the very base of your Leche Flan recipe. In a bowl, add 12 egg yolks, a full tin of Condensed milk, a cup of evaporated milk and half a cup of granulated sugar.
Step 4
With the help of a whisk, mix everything together, until the sugar has dissolved properly with the other ingredients. We are looking for a thin and shiny liquid custard consistency here.
Step 5
Now, with the help of a strainer, pour this custard mix into the Llanera. This will ensure your custard is rich and smooth. Cover up all the Leche Flan molds with aluminum foil. You can either make your delicious Leche Flan in the oven or a steamer.
Step 6
If you are making Leche Flan in an oven, put all the Leche Flan molds on the baking tray and also pour hot water on it. Bake it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes. Make sure to not overcook it.
Step 7
If you are making this yummy Filipino dessert in a steamer, firstly, put some water in the bottom of your steamer and let it boil on medium to high flame. Later on, place the Llanera and cook your Leche Flan for 20 to 25 minutes. Once your Leche Flan is properly set, let it chill in the fridge for a few hours and then serve it to your family and friends.
