In a slow, steady stream, pour slurry into the boiling liquid, stirring constantly to thicken the sauce slightly; let it cook for about 2-3 minutes so that it can bind together well. Season with salt and pepper. Step 4 Return Salisbury steak patties to pan with sauce. Pour the sauce over the meatballs. Cover the pan and cook a further 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Step 5 To the steak add mashed potatoes, green beans or steamed vegetables. The rich flavoured sauce is perfect to drizzle on the side, adding an extra sheet of flavour.
