โ 7 to 8 cups of crushed Ice Cubes
How To Prepare A Perfect Mint Julep? Step-by-step Guide For You
Step 1
At first, we need to clean the table, clean the glasses and ice box perfectly. To maintain better hygiene, please use sterilized spoons and a pair of gloves. For better results, we are using a steel shaker and steel spoons along with crystal glasses for the cocktail. Now, start gathering all the ingredients properly.
Step 2
Next, we will have to prepare the simple mint syrup for the Mint Julep recipe here. Take a small saucepan and clean it up thoroughly. Put the chopped mint leaves into the pan and add water to it till the leaves are getting properly covered. Add some white sugar and place it over a medium heat setting at first.
Step 3
Once you put all the Mint Julep Ingredients into the pan, stir it well with a ladle and set the heat high. Keep cooking till the mixture comes to a boil. As bubbles start to form, keep it boiling for some minutes and then, bring the heat down to a lower setting. For the next 2 to 3 minutes, keep stirring the mixture occasionally until the sugar gets dissolved entirely.
Step 4
As soon as it happens, remove the pan from the heat entirely and set it aside. Let it cool down for the next 3 to 4 minutes and don’t touch it until it happens. Once this syrup is ready, take a strainer and place it over a glass bowl. When this syrup cools down completely, you have to strain it through the cup. Remove the mint leaves completely.
Step 5
In the next step, take 8 glasses and place them in a line. Fill all of them with crushed ice from the ice bowl and make sure to leave some space for pouring in the cocktail. Pour just 1/4 cup of Mint Syrup into the glasses. Add 4 oz. of the Kentucky Bourbon into each one of the glasses carefully. Just in case you want it sweeter, add more syrup.
Step 6
For best results, give each of these glasses a lime lining on the rim of the glasses. Just in case there’s more space, give them a stir before serving. Your Mint Julep should be ready by now. Before you serve, top each of the drink with a mint sprig or mint leaf for a better look.
Serving And Storage Options:
โ Since this is a traditional cocktail recipe, this is usually served in Highball Glasses and Silver Goblets. For household occasions, you can use clear glasses like you have used.
โ Just in case you have a tight schedule ahead, make the Mint Julep at most a day ahead. Take a airtight container and place the syrup once it cools down completely. Store it in the refrigerator till serving.
