Ingredients for Cheeseburger Pasta Recipe

  • 1 lb ground beef 
  • 8 oz pasta (shells or elbow macaroni work best) 
  • 1 cup diced onion 
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth 
  • 1 cup tomato sauce 
  • 1 tbsp ketchup (for that authentic cheeseburger flavor) 
  • 1 tbsp mustard 
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil 
  • Salt and pepper to taste 
  • Optional garnishes: chopped pickles, crispy bacon, or fresh parsley 

Step-by-Step: How to Make One-Pot Cheeseburger Pasta

Step 1: Sauté the Beef and Onions

  • In a large pot put olive oil and turn on medium heat. Place the diced onions in and stir fry until they turn tender (about 3-4 minutes). 
  • Mix the ground beef and sauté until it is done. While it is cooking stir it with a spatula to make it easier to break down.

Step 2: Add Garlic and Season

  • Now add the minced garlic to the beef and onions sauté for an additional one minute until aromatic. 
  • Salt and pepper the mixture.

Step 3: Add the Liquids and Pasta

  • To the slow cooker pour the beef broth, tomato sauce, ketchup and mustard. Stir to combine. 
  • Throw the pasta in raw into the pot. Make sure the pasta is partially covered with the liquid through out the cook. 

Step 4: Simmer to Perfection

  • Heat the mixture until it boils and then leave the heat to low simmering. 
  • Bring to the simmer, covering the pot for around 12-15 minutes, stirring from time to time, until the pasta is cooked through and the liquid is nearly entirely soaked.

Step 5: Add Cheese and Serve

  • Add the shredded cheddar cheese to the sauce and stir the sauce until,it thickens and the cheese melts. 
  • It should be served hot accompanied by dressing of chopped pickles, crispy bacon or parsley.
