Filipino Siopao Recipe: A Step-by-step Guide Only For You

Step 1

At the very beginning, we need to take a large bowl and clean it thoroughly with a slightly wet cloth. Cleaning your equipment is a necessary step before you start to assemble your recipe ingredients. Let the moisture go away from the glass bowl, or you can wipe it off with paper towels. Then, start putting in the primary ingredients into it.

Step 2

Pour the flour and yeast into the glass bowl. These are the primary ingredients of our Filipino Siopao Recipe. Pour in the salt and sugar too, and start mixing all four of these together. Add some water and mix it well. After some minutes, include the 1/4 cup of oil into the bowl. Combine these well till you can see a dough starting to form.

Step 3

For the next 10 to 12 minutes, keep kneading the dough till it is elastic and smooth to touch. Just in case you notice the Siopao dough falling out of shape, dust it up with some extra flour. Once you are done, keep it aside in the same bowl you combined the items. For preserving he elasticity, you can keep a cling film layer to avoid air.

Step 4

Preheat your oven for at least 1 to 1.5 minutes. Take another large bowl, and grease it slightly. We are not using parchment paper here. Just take some oil, and oil the bowl especially along the edges. Please make sure the oiling layer is uniform enough and covers all the areas of the bowl. Place the dough inside the bowl and put up a cheese cloth cover above.

Step 5

Place this Filipino Siopao dough inside the oven for at least 1 hour. This time will be enough for the dough to become double in it’s size. Take it out for some seconds and punch it down. Afterward, reheat the dough for 16 minutes more till it rises up again. When it happens, take it out and knead the dough on a flat surface.

Step 6

Carefully divide and cut into 12 dough balls. Apply slight butter on your hands and start rolling the balls smoother in nature. Flatten the dough, place a portion of the pork and chicken mixture inside it. Press and twist the edges together and make sure that the mix is sealed inside properly. Repeat this process for all the portions.

Step 7

Keep each of this dough buns into a 3×3 square sheet, completely greased up beforehand. Place all of them in a steamer and start to cook the dish. Keep heat at a low setting first and after sometime, increase it to a medium high setting. For the next 30 to 35 minutes, cook them till they are puffy and hot. Once it happens, your Siopao Recipe is ready to serve.
