Folks used to treat common cold and mild flus with the syrup. ● This Elderberry Syrup comes from Sambucus Tree, which is a Native European tree that grows in the comparatively warmer regions. ● In the modern days, people having flu or cold often take Elderberry blend as a preventative remedy. With the amount of ingredients we have provided here, you will get at least 1 liter of Elderberry Syrup in the end. Make sure to keep this stored in a clean glass bottle inside the refrigerator. For longevity, be careful while straining and softening the Elderberries. You can use the Elderberry Syrup and drizzle it on waffles or fresh homemade pancakes. For best taste, pair up a fresh dollop of Vanilla ice cream with this syrup. However, you can use this as a refreshing summer cocktail by diluting this with cold water and ice cubes. Wash the berries with clean water and put them on a clean soft to absorb excess water. Take a fork, and carefully destalk the berries from their stalks. Remove the stem completely from the berries and set them aside. Step – 2 Next, pour all the berries into a medium sized saucepan and pour cold water into it. Submerge the berries with about 1 to 1.5 cm water, not more than that level. Before turning on the heat, slice gingers and add them into the water with the berries. Add the clove and start boiling this at a medium heat. High heat can damage the aromatic property of these ingredients pretty quickly. Step – 3 Once the primary mixture of the Elderberry Syrup comes to a boil, turn the heat down. Let this simmer gently for about 16 to 20 minutes. Remove the lid carefully after 2 minutes. Take a clean spoon and dip it into the mixture to make sure all the Elderberries are extremely soft. Soon, they will start dissolving into a much clearer liquid. Step – 4 Let the liquid cool for some minutes. Take a fine sieve and start straining the liquid of Elderberry Syrup. Afterwards, we will add sugar to this liquid, but first, you need to measure this properly. 500 ml of this liquid needs 400 gm of Granulated White Sugar. Add granulated White Sugar with a spoon and whisk the entire vigorously for mixing it well. Step – 5 Once you are done, pour in the sugary syrup back into the saucepan. Tip in the fresh Lemon Juice and wait till you can see bubbles coming out. When it happens, let it simmer for 10 to 12 minutes so that no sugar lumps are left behind. Let it cool and keep the cold syrup in glass bottles. Let it freeze for at least 24 hours, and your Elderberry Syrup is ready.
